Numbered Headings
Numbered Headings adds visible prefixes to supported headings on one page or blog. Open it from the Better Pages byline action on content you can edit.
Apply numbering
Section titled “Apply numbering”- Open the published page and select Numbered Headings in the byline.
- Choose decimal, Latin alphabet, or Roman numeral numbering.
- Decide how skipped heading levels should be handled.
- Preview the heading outline.
- Apply the change and reload the page to verify the result.
Better Pages writes the prefixes into heading text so they remain readable in normal Confluence views. Page-update handling reapplies the chosen scheme after later edits; synchronization can take up to three minutes.
Choose Remove numbering to remove prefixes managed by Better Pages. Review the preview carefully if authors have manually typed similar prefixes.
Good practice
Section titled “Good practice”- Use heading levels for structure before adding numbers.
- Keep one numbering scheme for the complete page.
- Recheck links or references that quote full heading text.
- If the action says the feature is disabled, ask a site administrator to enable Numbered Headings in Better Pages administration.
